Travel impressions

Berlin

Berlin is our most frequent travel destination, either privately - such as for my 60th birthday - or as part of frequent congress visits. Thus, Berlin is always worth a visit.

Berlin QuadrigaThe city pulsates and is constantly changing after German re-unification. In the pictures from 1988, we were still able to capture the Berlin Wall in front of the Brandenburg Gate, and later in 2006 the Palace of the Republic from the GDR era, which has now become the Berlin City Palace.

While we once stayed in the Bleitreustraße on the Kudamm, our current quarters are mostly in Berlin-Mitte, preferably in the Albrechtshof near Friedrichstraße. The Museum Insel is a fixed point of attraction for us, whose attractions we now know very well.

But not only central West Berlin with Kudamm and KaDeWe and Berlin-Mitte with Friedrichstraße and Potsdamer Platz are worth seeing, there are also interesting things to discover on the periphery of Berlin. We can recommend the vibrant district of Koepenick in the east (including the FC-Union stadium) and Berlin-Pankow, where we can meet up with one of Rainer's school friends, and Grunewald, Pfaueninsel and of course Potsdam in the west.
